Why you shouldn’t have your laptop repaired by the manufacturer – unless you still have a warranty

When your laptop breaks, the first impulse is often: “I’ll send it to the manufacturer.” Sounds logical at first – but practice shows that it is often more expensive than with independent repair shops. Manufacturers mainly work with centralized service centers where only components are replaced. Soldering is no longer done there, and therefore no real repairs are carried out. Especially in the case of mainboard damage, manufacturers charge up to €800 for a mainboard repair.

Why should you have your laptop repaired at IPC-Computer?

Faster, more direct and uncomplicated service

While manufacturer devices are often sent to large, international service centers, the repair at IPC-Computer takes place directly in our own specialist workshop in Germany.
This saves time, shipping routes and, above all, nerves – you are always in contact with our technicians, not with anonymous call center hotlines.

Fair costs or expensive complete mainboard replacement?

Last week I got an HP Elite-Book 845 G11 in our workshop for repair. Here, the defective display was to be replaced with an original HP display. I looked for the original display and its price, which was very expensive. A more economical solution had to be found! We found a similar display from another manufacturer and modified the connections a bit. It worked right away. But the best thing is that the customer saved a lot of money. Cost of original display: well over 300 euros - Cost of replacement display from the IPC shop: 89.00 euros

Manufacturers often replace complete modules – for example the mainboard – even with minor defects. At IPC Computer, repairs are targeted. The technician looks at what should be replaced and repaired in a sensible way in order to offer a cost-effective repair solution for the customer.

In contrast, manufacturers charge €400 to €800 for a new mainboard.

Conclusion:

At IPC Computer, repairs are targeted, only what is defective is replaced. As a result, you benefit from significantly lower repair costs.

What advantages do independent repair shops like IPC have compared to the manufacturers' service centers?

  • Repair at chip level and not just component replacement.
  • Repair costs are reduced as a result.
  • Sustainable approach: resources are conserved, electronic waste is avoided.
  • More flexible response to customer requests.
  • Laptop can also be handed in personally.
  • Combination of spare parts trade and workshop competence: advice, delivery and repair all from one source.
  • IPC solution promise – we want you to always reach your goal.
